Stage 38: Pennine Chimes

Stage 38 sees the Beacon travel from a big celebration with Cheshire Chord Company, Affinity Show Choir, Crystal Chords and Ultraviolet in Manchester, on its penultimate journey to Pennine Chimes in Bradford before it travels on it’s final journey to the White Rosettes in Leeds and on to Harrogate for #LABBS16 Convention.

Here’s what Pennine Chimes had to say about their time with the Beacon of Harmony:

Tuesday 4th October Pennine Chimes were delighted to receive some visitors, Crystal Chords’ Anne-Marie Borneouf & Alison Harbord. After an incredibly busy few weeks culminating in our charity concert on the Saturday, we were definitely in the mood to celebrate! We put out a traditional Chimes style buffet, and had a wonderful cake made by the sister of one of our baritones. It’s always a family affair round here!

The ladies arrived bearing not only the Beacon of Harmony itself but the gift of the 40th anniversary tag, which we proceeded to learn together & video before seamlessly moving on to the official handover.

This took place between Alison and our chair June Johnson, and the Beacon was signed by our longest serving member Marilyn McDonnell, one of the original Pennine Chimes, and Kim Webb another long serving member / bass / tenor / coach / music director extraordinaire.

There were a few giggles when Kim & Marilyn started doing traditional wedding cake photo poses!

The night was great fun, and although it had to end early we left that night feeling proud to be part of such a monumental event in the history of LABBS. Not only that, but we were looking forward to visiting the White Rosettes in the coming week for the penultimate handover, and of course a sneaky peek at their show package!
