Stage 37: A Manchester Celebration

Stage 37 sees the Beacon travel from a joint celebration between the Red Rosettes and Cheshire Chord Company in Leyland to a big celebration with Cheshire Chord Company, Affinity Show Choir, Crystal Chords and Ultraviolet in Manchester.

Here’s the four choruses account of the event:

On Sunday 2nd October members of Affinity Show Chorus, Cheshire Chord Company, Crystal Chords & Ultraviolet met for afternoon tea and to celebrate 40 years of our great association.  Our master of ceremonies for the day was former LABBS Chair & current Director of Special Projects Alison Harbord, who did a great job of keeping us to schedule and ensuring a great time was had by all!

Friends, old & new, enjoyed homemade sandwiches, tea & homemade cakes.  We also got to savour this very special cake to celebrate our Beacon of Harmony gathering.

We sang for each other as choruses, as well as sets from, the newest members within our number, Ultraviolet (of Manchester University Barbershop Singers) and 2015 Quartet Champions Pzazz!.

The afternoon culminated in a group sing of the 40th Anniversary Tag, directed by Monica Funnell, as well as Bohemian Rhapsody and polecats from previous conventions, directed by Jo Braham.

It really was a very enjoyable afternoon, with thanks again to all those who helped by baking, making, setting up, documenting, directing & organising!  Looking forward to seeing you all again soon at Convention.
